Garages are purchasable Safehouses in Grand Theft Auto Online.
Description[]
Garages can be purchased by the player via the Dynasty 8 website, or by interacting with property sale signs outside their respective buildings. Previously, garages could only be purchased after the player has reached Rank 5[1]. However, as of the Bottom Dollar Bounties update, this requirement has been removed. If configured to show in the Interaction Menu "Hide" options, a Garage available for purchase will show on the map with .
Unlike Apartments, these properties are for exclusive purpose of vehicle storage, with limited player activities available inside. Garage locations of all tiers (low-end, medium, and high-end) are largely equally spread between Los Santos and Blaine County.
Garages can store Personal Vehicles either purchased from in game websites or dealerships, or low end vehicles and bicycles stolen directly off the street. Purchased vehicles are automatically fitted with a tracker and insurance, but stolen vehicles will need these manually purchased from Los Santos Customs. Driving an un-tracked vehicle into an owned garage will automatically fit the tracker for free.
After purchasing a Garage, the Garage Mechanic is added to the Mobile Phone contacts. He charges his daily fee of $10 ($50 prior to The Contract update) per owned garage. Any damage to a vehicle driven into an owned Garage will be fixed by the mechanic instantly and free of any cost to the player.
Originally, the player was only able to own one property in total. This limit was gradually expanded upon in various updates to a grand total of 10 properties as of The Criminal Enterprises update. This amount is shared between Apartments and Garages, and special properties like Businesses and the Eclipse Boulevard Garage do not contribute to this total.
- After the High Life Update, a 2nd property could be purchased.
- After Festive Surprise, a 3rd could be purchased.
- After the Lowriders update, enhanced version players can own a 4th.
- After the Executives and Other Criminals update, enhanced version players can own a 5th.
- After the Bikers update, enhanced version players can own a 6th.
- After the Los Santos Summer Special update, enhanced version players can own up to 8.
- After The Criminal Enterprises update, enhanced version players can own up to 10.
When purchasing any additional garage, the player is given the option to trade-in an existing property or use an empty slot if they still have less than ten. Trading in refunds 50% of the original purchase price. If the previous garage contained vehicles, they will be moved to the new garage. If the new garage has fewer spaces than the number of vehicles stored in the previous garage, the excess vehicles will only be available by calling the Mechanic when they can then be moved to an available storage slot in another garage.
Every garage features a blue Corona marking the Vehicle Management option, allowing vehicles to be moved around inside the garage.
Player-owned Garages will appear as , while friend-owned Garages will appear as .
Garage Tiers[]
The Dynasty 8 listings are divided into three tiers of purchasable properties; low-end, medium and high-end.
Low-end[]
Low-end garages have a basic, dingy interior with poor lighting and various tools and machine parts scattered around. A laptop and radio are located on the rear workbench for the player to interact with. These garages can store a maximum of two Personal Vehicles and one Bicycle.
