The Game Boy Advance (often shortened to GBA) is a handheld video game console developed, manufactured and marketed by Nintendo. It is the last in the Game Boy series of consoles, and the successor to the popular Game Boy Color, and its successor was the extremely popular DS. The GBA was released in Japan on March 21, 2001; in North America on June 11, 2001; in Europe on June 22, 2001; and in China on June 8, 2004 (excluding Hong Kong). Its codename during development was Project Atlantis.
Only one GTA game was made specifically for the Game Boy Advance, which was the appropriately-titled Grand Theft Auto Advance. However, the Game Boy Color ports of Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 can also be played on the system, due to the GBA being backwards-compatible with most GBC and original Game Boy games.
