Welcome to GTA Wiki:Requests for Promotion.

You may apply for Rollback Rights or Administrator privileges on this noticeboard. To do so, you must meet the prerequisites, and then state what position you are looking for and why you think you need the rollback and/or administrator tools.

Requests for Checkuser, Oversight and Revision Delete must be done at Community Central (and they'll probably be declined).

Rollback is a tool that allows users to quickly revert vandalism.

Administrators have the power to block and ban users, protect pages, move images, and delete pages and images, in addition to rollback.

To qualify for rollback rights, editors must have been active for two months with no rules violations. Rollbackers must receive a 60% 'yes' percentage to be promoted.

To qualify for administrator rights, editors must have been active for four months with no rules violations. Administrators must receive a 70% 'yes' percentage to be promoted. Those applying for adminship will likely be asked questions on how they deal with certain situations. This is to see if a user has the capabilities of being an administrator.

Editors with rollback and administrator experience on other wikis are encouraged to apply, and based on the editor in question exceptions may be made to the length of time editing required for promotion.

When applying for promotion, a community vote will take place. Voting lasts 7 days, although it may be allowed to run shorter (in the case of an obvious pass/fail) or longer (in the case of a very close vote) at bureaucrat discretion. Only bureaucrats should close votes.

Application users who are caught tampering with other users votes, such as changing a no to a yes, will have their request closed immediately.

Please submit your requests at the top of the "Active requests" page subsection.

AndreEagle17 - Patroller

19:15, January 15, 2015 (UTC) as Successful - Tom Talk

Hello, I am Andre and i'm editing in this wiki since July 22, 2013, I have sent a patroller request last year, but it was denied, because I wasn't aware of the Image policy and because of my bad grammar, well, my grammar is not so good because of my country's language (which is much harder than english however), CJ Jr. had to remind me of my grammar and image policy, and i'm sure that after my first request, I have learned about the Image policy and now i'm aware of it, I have added necessary pictures to the wiki after learning about image policy, if you want to see all the pictures I have uploaded, check my Sandbox.

I had some interesting and good ideas, such as merging Sabre Turbo with Sabre GT, Spliting Wrecks from Beaters, adding all the Exports and Imports vehicle prices to their respective article and creating the Infobox safehouse template, but okay, I didn't do all of them alone, I had the help of Smashbro, Leo and WildBrick, they helped me a lot in this wiki.

One thing that should be noted, is that I am friendly and respectful to everyone, I admit I had a misunderstanding with WildBrick a long time ago, I said that he was "annoying" but I saw that he didn't do anything and I quickly apologized after that, I also take my time to calm some users down, as I did to Joe, behavior is essential to a wiki user. I also help to report vandals like Putamadreuser and Porter and I know how to recognize sockpuppets.

Would you like to have me as a patroller and protect the wiki from vandalism and teach other users to follow the policies?

  • This is no surprise he is one of the better editors present in the wiki and has a lot of potential in the form of a patroller. So yes a big definite YES. Shadow Polaris(Talk)
  • Its a yes from me, he does really well here, his grammar is a little poor, but im sure we can all agree we all do make grammar errors, and we know how to fix it, Andre deserves this! MONKEYPOLICE 188-0 (talk)
  • A Yes from me too. The good edits he's made to the Wiki outweigh his earlier troubles. His grammar may not be the best but no-one's on the Wiki is perfect. He's good at pointing out sockpuppets too. A resounding yes. SJWalker (talk) 15:59, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • He's changed from his last request. He learned and followed the policies here. Like Shadow Polaris said, Andre is one of the better editors that edit here. His grammar may be poor, but in my opinion, his excellent contributes to the wiki and following the policies are much higher and worth giving him a promotion. Smashbro8-Sig-pt1 (Smashbro8-Sig-pt2) 16:36, January 7, 2015 (UTC)Smashbro8
  • After a few things were pointed out I realized I had to reconsider. Andre is a great editor, he has grammar errors but that comes from being Brazillian, so you can't judge him for that. He has improved his work since his last request, but this business with RainingPain17 will come to light during the voting. Taking all points in to consideration, I am voting yes, but I reccomend a trial basis of 3 months, and his performance should indicate on whether he stays as a Patroller. Leo68 (talk) 17:20, January 8, 2015 (UTC)
  • Even though you're a good editor, I'm not sure you're ready to be a patroller yet. Apart from your grammar, I think you could have handled better your issues with RainingPain17. However I also admit that your work here is very good in general, so it wouldn't be fair for me to vote just "No". DocVinewood (talk) 16:59, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • Lots of improvement. You now understand the policies. Plus, you are an active and a good editor. I'd say you are ready. Carl Johnson Jr. (talk) 20:02, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • I'm not convinced Andre has the right attitude. His editing has certainly improved considerably since his last request but the "too keen" warning lights are flashing in my mind. I'd like to se the dust settle on Rainingpain17's departure before a few that I think are ahead of Andre in the capability queue should have an opportunity to apply if they want to.  smurfy (coms) 22:38, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • I thought a lot before giving my vote. On one hand, you still sound a bit immature to me and your atitude reminds me a lot of RainingPain17 (and we all know how well thats turned out to be). On the other hand, you have enthusiasm, is very active and grow up a lot since your last request. I'm gonna put a vote of trust in you. Don't make me regret my decision. 558050 Talk 11:49 January 8, 2015 (UTC)
  • 9 yes, 1 no, 1 neutral. I say we close it as successful. Andre has also agreed a 3 month probation between myself and The Tom, due to past issues. Leo68 (talk) 19:16, January 9, 2015 (UTC)

Smurfynz - Patroller

16:54, January 5, 2015 (UTC) as Successful - Messi1983 (talk) 16:54, January 5, 2015 (UTC)

Greetings, Sean from NZ here, aka smurfynz. After spending the last 4 months contributing content, fixing mistakes and getting involved in identifying and reporting numerous vandals, but still saying I didn't really want to be a patroller on the wiki, I have decided the time has come to apply for one of the vacant patroller positions. As has been pointed out to me several times, I have been performing patroller duties without the title virtually since I started editing on the wiki on August 31st. I am usually well behaved but do have my limits (as seen at the start of November when I almost quit the wiki over the frustration of dealing with immature vandals that it is not in may nature to ignore). I have been moderating internet tech support forums for 15 years, so have a fair bit of experience identifying suspicious accounts, although I am used to having the autonomy to deal with these myself.

I am a 45 year old gaming veteran currently playing GTA IV on PC and GTA V on PS3 with intermittent access to the PS4 version and will be upgrading to GTA V on PC at the end of January. I also have GTA SA on PC (although no vanilla installs at the moment). I am a native English (UK as opposed to US) speaker and while my grammar and spelling isn't always 100%, it is better than most. I cover a unique time zone and being one of the first countries in the world to see the new day means I quite often see content first (although Rockstar are getting better at globally co-ordinated timing on their releases). The nature of my employment means I can be online monitoring the wiki for most of my waking hours.

I am a heavy content contributor and am familiar with the agreed policies and manuals of style. As an IT professional, I do insist on using underscores in place of the agreed hyphens as space substitutes in filenames, but otherwise I think I'm capable of enforcing these rules with consistency.

Cheers.

  • I don't think he's had any of his edits reverted or discussed for being "bad". Doesn't suffer fools and is a valuable contributor to the Wiki. It's a yes from me. SJWalker (talk) 23:55, January 4, 2015 (UTC)
  • How can I say no? Man, smurfy is the best standard user in the wiki! He clearly deserves the spot and there's no reason to say "no", nobody can say "no" to this! Hell yes, this is an obvious yes. Signature (talk) 00:06, January 5, 2015 (UTC)

  • Like SJWalker said, i don't think i have seen any of his edits reverted, he is brilliant, the work he does is always up to the best standards, he seems to know whether a point is valid or not, there isn't enough room on this page to discuss the amazing things he has done to this wiki! MONKEYPOLICE 188-0 (talk) 15:39, January , 2015 (UTC)

DocVinewood - Patroller

22:23, January 4, 2015 (UTC) as Successful - Tom Talk

Hello community, I am DocVinewood and I finally decided to request to be a patroller on this wiki. I joined 1 year and 3 months ago and during this time I've contributed creating new articles, adding needed images and improving pages (mainly GTA V content, since it is the newest game and the one that needs more work). Needless to say, I'm a GTA fanatic and I've played all games in the franchise except GTA 1 and 2. I believe I have a firm understanding of the policies and I'm ready to help the wiki and other patrollers. Even though English is not my mother language, I think my grammar is good enough and I'm always looking to improve it. Thanks for your time!

AndreEagle17  - Patroller

19:32, October 8, 2014 (UTC) Unsuccessful - Ilan xd.

Hello everybody, I am Andre and on Smashbro8 and RainingPain17's tip I decided to request for Patroller rights in this wiki, i'm almost always here taking care of some things and adding trivial facts for vehicles and weapons, I also sometimes have a debate with other users about to merge, add info, change things if necessary, I've been a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series since GTA2 and I know many things about the series, I also really like to help users and calm them down, like in the case of XPanettaa and Jojo6506, so nobody would worry about edit wars, policy violating and sockpuppetry because i'd have a word with them or else they'd be warned or worse, i'll admit sometimes I mess up but I fix it later, but I NEVER ever add false and unnecessary info, so I want your opinion about this request, should I be a patroller or not? No worries about your answer :)

  • Hmm, tough choice, but I'm going to have to go with no on this one. I know that Andre is trying his best to contribute to the wiki, but he still has much to improve on. Especially his grammar. Perhaps if he had more experience, I'd choose ues. Carl Johnson Jr. (talk)
    • @CarlJohnsonJr. Poor grammar doesn't mean one can't be a good patroller. Some staff here don't have that good grammar either. Andre has been here a while and he does have pretty good grammar. I'm just saying. Smashbro8-Sig-pt1 (Smashbro8-Sig-pt2) 17:56, September 28, 2014 (UTC)Smashbro8
      • I'm just making sure his not so good grammar doesn't transfer with his contributions to articles. I feel that a patroller must not only be a good rule follower but also a good user in general. I'll re-look at Andre's wiki history and try to spot anything that could make him worthy. Carl Johnson Jr. (talk) 18:00, September 28, 2014 (UTC)
  • AndreEagle is a great contributor the wiki. He is very active and works well with RainingPain17 and Wildbrick142, all of which I suggest should be patrollers. Also, he has helped calm down problems with users such as XPanettaa and Sean.drew.535i. Andre also helped merge unnecessary GTA vehicle pages to make navigation much easier. He definitely deserves a promotion. To me, if you are active, can stop violence here, and help the wiki greatly, you deserve a spot. • Both CJ Jr. and Smashbro have valid points, Andre's grammar needs to be a little better, but his skill to be peacemaker to prevent edit wars and to stop vandalism are excellent and if I must say, necessary to the community. I had to call him out on foul language on one occasion but that was a while ago, so I'd say he can follow the policy. It's a yes from me. Leo68 (talk) 18:10, September 28, 2014 (UTC)
  • Let's not forget Image policy either. To be a good contributor, one must remember the standards. Carl Johnson Jr. (talk) 03:21, September 29, 2014 (UTC)
  • Carl Johnson Jr. is point on, patrollers need to have firm understanding of our policies. We've promoted a few badly underqualified patrollers in the past, and it has never ended well. Jeff (talk·stalk) 09:17, October 2, 2014 (UTC)
  • Okay, I know where CJ Jr. comes from, my grammar is not perfect, i'm a brazilian and I have some american and brittish friends, but I never know whether my grammar is okay or not, even my portuguese grammar is not perfect, but I try my best to spell and write things right, about the policy, I had difficulties and after what happened in the Rat-Loader article, I decided to have a review in the image policy, now I understand it better and i'll never do what I have done in the Rat-Loader article again (AndreEagle17 (talk) 20:32, October 2, 2014 (UTC))
  • I'm voting neutral for the moment and will change my vote when I decided Yes or No. RainingPain17 (talk) 14:31, October 3, 2014 (UTC)
    • I decided. You do some pretty good job here, you're now aware of the image policy and I never saw any grammar issues with him. RainingPain17 (Talk - Edits) 18:27, October 3, 2014 (UTC)
  • With the vote having gone 3-3-1 this needs to be closed as unsuccessful. Jeff (talk·stalk) 16:02, October 8, 2014 (UTC)

RainingPain17 - Patroller

20:12, October 2, 2014 (UTC) as Successful - Tom Talk

Hello everyone, my name is RainingPain17 and on LS11sVaultBoy's tip I decided to request for Patroller rights on the GTA Wiki. I've been here for only one month but I am a very active user and also defending the Wiki from unrespectful users, having recently managed of have some of these blocked for vandalizing articles or aggressive behavior thanks to VaultBoy. I know much things about the GTA Series (especially GTA San Andreas and GTA V), I add all sort of informations, and I never violated the Wiki Policy, so it would be great for me to be part of the Wikia staff and help the community with their problems. Thank you :)

  • I'm sorry, but I change my vote to neutral. RainingPain may be a good contributor, but he must still work on trying to keep things civil. I do not want to say no, but again, I do not want to be too hasty with voting. Especially some of Raining's comments when editing and the usage of insults. Carl Johnson Jr. (talk) 18:41, October 2, 2014 (UTC)
    • Guess that's that. But, either way, these comments are still in Raining's history. Carl Johnson Jr. (talk) 01:14, October 3, 2014 (UTC)
      • CJ Jr. he had a reason to say this, this guy XPanettaa completely annoy Rain everytime, to the point that i had to talk to him to stop disturbing rain, i mean, Rain was done being nice with X, everyone here gets tired of some users, even bureaucrats, Rain's attitude was about how much he was annoyed by X, not about his general behavior (AndreEagle17 (talk) 02:03, October 3, 2014 (UTC))
