This page documents the Official GTA Wiki Policy on appreciation, expected from all users.
Policy
The definition of Appreciation, in this context, is "gratitude; the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.".
Showing appreciation towards users for their contributions is extremely important; it helps communicate that their work is noticed, and can make them feel valued.
It is highly encouraged for users, particularly Staff members, show Appreciation, as it raises the community spirit and GTA Wiki's morale.
How can I show Appreciation?
Appreciation can be shown in numerous ways. It is already common for users to recognize good edits by commenting in edit summaries of the same page, however it is encouraged that users praise other editors personally, such as via their talk page, where they are more likely to notice. Users can also use the {{Commend}} template on talk pages so show their appreciation for their efforts.
As of November 2023, users can also use Special:Thanks to thank users for individual contributions. (❤️ thank) will appear next to each edit in Special:RecentChanges, as well when previewing an edit revision. Users can click the icon to send the contributor a thank you notification, which appears in their notifications panel.
