The most terrifying luxury car of the 2260's.
Arena War description.

The Declasse Future Shock Impaler is a custom car featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Arena War update.

Design

Grand Theft Auto Online

The vehicle assumes the same design as the regular Impaler, having a clean bodywork and additional details on the sides. Unlike the Apocalypse and Nightmare equivalents, the vehicle retains all of the features from the regular Impaler, being the front license plate, headlight covers, outer lights, rear-view mirrors, windshield wipers and reverse lights. The cabin only has protective bars on the windshield and the rear window. Unique to this vehicle, the car has Declasse logos on the front and rear ends and the Declasse lettering use a different font, all of them with a gold texture.

The primary color of the vehicle is applied on the bodywork and the interior stitching, while the secondary one is applied on the bumpers, the details on the front and rear ends, the surrounding of the hood intakes, the details on the sides, the handles, the mirrors, the window trims and the fuel tank. An accent color is also available for the outer surroundings of the outer lights, the details on the hood, the upper details of the side windows, the upper and lower lines of the rear end and the central details of the rims. It uses concave rims with five spiked bolt details around the center, which are wrapped in medium-profile tires, having slightly wider track than the stock wheels of the regular Impaler.

The vehicle can be equipped with two top-mounted guns on the hood, being either machine guns resembling Browning M2HB machine guns or futuristic plasma/laser guns.

Performance

Grand Theft Auto Online

Vehicle

Although appearing to be similar to the regular Impaler, its performance is more or less identical to the Apocalypse and Nightmare variants, having an increased top speed and acceleration due to the weight reduction, and it also has slightly improved braking. However, it still suffers from losing control when steering too sharply, a flaw that is carried from the standard Impaler.

Like its stock counterpart, the vehicle is powered by a single-cam V8 engine, this time coupled to a 5-speed gearbox in a front engine, rear wheel drive layout. It retains the same engine sound from the regular Impaler, which is derived from the Buccaneer.

Abilities
  • The vehicle can be installed with both "Jump" mods and "Shunt" mods. The Jump modifications come in three levels of effectiveness and can be activated using the horn button. When activated, the vehicle will be launched into the air, in a similar way to the Ruiner 2000 and Scramjet. The Shunt modifications allow the vehicle to shunt to the side.
  • The vehicle can be installed with Boost upgrades. This can be used to significantly speed up the vehicle. It can be used repeatedly while driving the vehicle, but it is better to let it fully recharge for maximum efficiency.
Armor

The Impaler, like most Arena vehicles, has decent resistance, able to take a single explosive without being destroyed. However, the protective bars on the windows do not offer actual protection to the occupants, rendering them vulnerable to gunfire. This issue can be mitigated with the Heavy Armor upgrade, as it adds an armor plate on the windshield with smaller open spots, and armor plates on the rear-quarter and rear windows that give higher protection against enemy pursuers (though not that much compared to the Apocalypse and the Nightmare variants). The rear wheels are also protected with small plates, but the front ones are still exposed to get punctured by gunfire, unless the "Bulletproof Tires" upgrade is installed.

Weaponry
  • The vehicle can be fitted with a Ram Weapon, namely scoops. The ram weapon behaves in a similar way to the updated scoops and ramming bars of the RCV and Armored Boxville, causing a large amount of damage to other vehicles and often sending them flying into mid-air with little to no disadvantage against the vehicle itself, and no damage to the vehicle's engine whatsoever. It should be noted that the effectiveness against other players is significantly reduced compared to its effectiveness against NPCs and their vehicles.
  • Dual .50 Cal: The Impaler can be modified to have two machine guns, which behave similarly to other front-mounted machine guns from various armed land vehicles. While having good damage against most targets, it struggles to defeat heavily-armored vehicles.
  • Dual Lasers: The Impaler, like other Future Shock vehicles, has access to two phased plasma guns, which seem to have higher fire rate but retain the same damage per round as the regular machine guns.
  • The vehicle has the option for installing Proximity Mines. Unlike Weaponized Vehicles added in the Gunrunning update, the Impaler, along with all Arena Cars in the Arena War update, has five different Proximity Mine choices: Kinetic, Spike, EMP, Slick and Sticky;
    • The Kinetic option (orange flashing light) creates a small impulse spreading several meters around the area, sending players and vehicles into the air. The impulse deals little damage to both players and vehicles.
    • The Spike option (dark blue flashing light) bursts the tires of vehicles passing over or near it, as well as dealing a small amount of damage to the vehicle, mainly effecting the vehicle's windows, but otherwise dealing no damage or force. The mine does not burst vehicles with Bulletproof Tires installed.
    • The EMP option (light blue flashing light) disables the vehicle's electronics when passing over it. The accelerator, brakes and steering, as well as the radio and other features are disabled for around 5 seconds before reactivating. It also deals a small amount of damage to players. The player will be notified by whom their vehicle was disabled by in a small notification above the radar.
    • The Slick option (green flashing light) bursts a large amount of oil on the surface, causing vehicles passing over it to lose control. This deals no damage to both vehicles or players.
    • The Sticky option (purple flashing light) bursts a large amount of sticky substance on the surface, causing vehicles passing over it to slow down. This deals no damage to both vehicles or players.
  • The car can also be installed with bodywork Spikes. These spikes deal damage to NPCs and players, contact with the spikes can instantly kill them.

Grand Theft Auto Online

  • Can be converted from an Impaler at the Arena Workshop, for $1,209,500.
    • The vehicle comes with the "HK" Livery and a Light Scoop Ram Weapon as standard upon conversion.

Trivia

Grand Theft Auto Online

  • When the "Heavy Armor" modification is installed, the rear quarter windows are covered by metal panels, but only from the outside. When in first-person view inside the vehicle, it is still possible to look out through the rear quarter windows as if the metal panels are not there.
  • If the Heavy Armor upgrade is equipped, the headlight covers will be removed.
  • The windshield wipers clip through the front protective bars. This arrangement would theorically render the wipers unable to function properly.
