For a similar vehicle in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, see Freight Train (boxcar)
For the boxcars appearing in the series, see Boxcar.
The Freight Box[1] is a boxcar that was cut during the development of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It was intended for the Freight as an alternative to the flatcar.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
The Freight Box seems to be based on a American 50 Ft box car, but given a rounded top rather than a slightly sloped top.
The Freight Box features a long chassis with twin-axle bogies, circular lights on both ends and small steps on each quarter, but lack physical couplers (likely due to it being an unfinished vehicle). Even though the doors on either side of the car are both open, the player cannot jump in, as there is an invisible wall. The train car is only seen in a rusty/worn light blue color.
Behaviour[]
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
The Freight Box is shown to have similar properties to the Brown Streak and the Freight, in that it is immune to all forms of damage, including weapon damage, fire, and any physical obstruction.
The train car uses the same handling line as the Freight flatcar.

Static Variants[]
A prop variant can be found parked on the tracks inside the Ocean Docks Freight Depot in Ocean Docks. Unlike the cut vehicle, this variant is based on a typical American boxcar with a flat top and a lack of buffers, although it is substantially shorter than either the cut vehicle or the real thing.
The model is substantially lower quality than the cut vehicle, consisting mostly of flat surfaces with textures applied, as opposed to the cut vehicle's modeled doors, ladders, and brackets. The boxcar comes in a faded yellow livery with black doors reminiscent of the real-life Railbox Company. Unlike the cut vehicle, these boxcars can be entered, but they are all empty.
