Forums GTA Vice City Kaufman Cab Mission: Need Help!!!

Hey fellow GTAers,

I need some help with completing the "V.I.P." mission to acquire the Kaufman Cabs estate in Vice City. I have already done the 100 fares in the taxi cab earlier in the game, so now all of the taxis in Vice City jump when you press the horn. During the mission, you have to drive into the pink circle and sound your horn, but when I try this nothing happens. I can get other cars to honk their horns, but not the taxis anymore. Because of this, I always run out of time and fail the mission. Is there some way to get around this, or something I should be doing differently to get the cab's horn to honk. Please help me!!! I am going for 100% completion and I don't want to start again from the beginning!!!

Thanks, y2kwood33

Hmmm, that sounds like a game glitch. As many time as I've played GTA Vice City, I've never done the 100 fares before completing the Kaufman Cabs missions! Is this on PS2 or PC? I will try my best to find out if there is a way around it. EganioTalk 19:52, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

This is the PS2 version of the game. Please let me know if you can find a way around this! Thanks so much for your help!!!

So, nothing happens when you try honking the horn? I just completed 100 fares (and got the Taxi "jump" reward), and was able to complete all 3 Kaufman Cabs missions without any problems. I pushed L3 to sound the horn like any other time...the only difference is that the horn doesn't actually sound, but the mission does progress as if it did. One question: are you using cheats? If so, this might have something to do with your problem, but otherwise, I can't recreate the problem you've been experiencing. Sorry! :-( EganioTalk 06:24, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

No, I haven't used any cheats. I'll have to try it again to see if the same thing will work for me without the horn sounding. Thanks again!!! Maybe I just didn't do something right the first time. When you are parked and you press L3 to continue the mission, does the taxi jump?

No, the taxi doesn't jump...actually nothing happens; it just proceeds with the cutscene. EganioTalk 00:41, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for all of your help, I went back and the mission worked just fine. I must have been doing something wrong the first time.

Heh, no problem...it happens!  ;-) EganioTalk 01:35, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
