The Firefly Projects Rail Yard is a small yard off the Broker Line, located in Firefly Projects. It is found at the end of Ringo Street which connects to Mohegan Avenue. It is just north-west of the Broker - Dukes Expressway intersection.
Description
The siding comes off the main subway track, just before the Hove Beach Station. Next to the highway, it comes down to ground level, but is protected from cars by destructible metal fences. However, the player can easily access the tracks by crashing their car into the metal fences. Many lines branch off into the train shed, but more continue to a siding.
Here, a flatbed car and an oil holder are parked. There is also an engine wash, but the entrance is barred of with a gate. It appears to be a car wash, but with a track instead of a road. No one is ever seen working at the yard and no trains call here, though the yard itself does not appear to be abandoned.
On the road nearby, many gang members spawn, and can attack the player if provoked. Some large buildings appear on the site, though these appear to be in a derelict state. A large building overhangs the yard. Across the road there is a derelict piece of land, full of car wrecks and an old shed.
The rail yard is still present in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, but there is a barrier that prevents the player from accessing the rails. However, the main subway tracks are not solid and just serve as mere props.
The rail yard might be partially based on the Coney Island Complex in the New York City Subway.
Trivia
- Unusually for American rolling stock, the flatbeds in the train yard have buffers, which are only present on British and Continental European rolling stock.
- This and the Francis International Airport tracks are the only parts of the subway system to have third rail tracks, but stepping on them does not electrify the player.
- Due to GTA Chinatown Wars's simplified map, which also affected the subway systems, this is where a segment of the 3/8 Broker Line terminates instead of connecting to Schottler LTA.
