The Declasse Tornado Custom is a two-door lowrider featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Lowriders: Custom Classics update, released on April 4th, 2016, during the Tornado Week event.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Tornado Custom is a lowrider variant of the Tornado (specifically the convertible variant), where it brings various changes by default.
The vehicle retains its original design from the standard model, retaining the front and rear fascias. However, its soft-top features a custom pattern detail. Its underside is fitted with a paintable frame and has a visible driveshaft, a different, shorter exhaust setup (dual pipes instead of a single Y-split pipe), and visible hydraulic bars connected to the suspension.
The car is prominently painted in a single color, with the accent color painting the stitching and the details of the interior; and the trim color applied to most of the interior panellings and the soft top. The vehicle retains the stock wheel design from the normal Tornado, being a derivative of the "Flare" rims available in Los Santos Customs, albeit slightly smaller in size.

Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Tornado has received some improvements such as its handling and speed but otherwise remains a less-than-worthy competitor, though it has a somewhat reduced turning circle. Braking power is problematic as it requires the use of the handbrake to make quick stops, even with upgrades purchased.
Again, the vehicle is powered by a V8 engine, coupled to a 4-speed gearbox and powering the rear wheels. It shares the same engine sound as the regular version.

Special Variants[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
Main article: Phantom Car
During the two Halloween event weeks in 2021, a special variant of the Tornado Custom named "Phantom Car", would appear at night during freeroam as one of the random events. The "Phantom Car" is a reference to "Christine", a malevolently possessed 1958 Plymouth Fury that stars in the Stephen King novel and 1983 film of the same name.
Prominent Appearances in Missions[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- Used by attacking enemies in the Grove Street Survival.
- Used by the Vagos in the Security Contract "Gang Termination" (Vagos Captains scenario) and the Short Trip mission "Fire It Up".
Locations[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- Can be converted from a standard Tornado at Benny's Original Motor Works for $375,000.
Radio Stations[]
- In Grand Theft Auto Online, the default radio stations are grouped by genre. The Tornado Custom uses the "Mexican" group which can play East Los FM.
Trivia[]
General[]
- The livery "Neo Geometric" for this vehicle is a reference to the character Neo from The Matrix movies. It also looks similar in design to Digital Rain, which is commonly seen in the franchise.
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- When the roof is retracted and the vehicle is either stationary or accelerating slowly, the player will rest their left arm on the driver's side door, this also happens on the Buccaneer Custom and the Chino Custom. This does not occur when in first-person view.
- After upgrading to the Tornado Custom and leaving Benny's garage, the car will emit a unique backfire noise. This noise disappears when the car is stored in the player's personal garage or leaving/switching sessions.
- Should the player opt to convert the convertible variant of the Tornado, any secondary color will be carried over to the accent color (including colors not available for said category, such as Chrome, Matte or Metals).
- Similarly, if a rusty variant of the Tornado is converted, the Worn colors will be carried over as well, which are not available at any mod shop.
Bugs/Glitches[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- The soft-top of the vehicle partially clips through the rear wheel wells when retracted. This is best seen when the rear hydraulics are used.
