The ??? tattoo, most commonly known as the UFO Tattoo or the Alien Tattoo, is a special item in Grand Theft Auto Online, added as part of the Arena War update.
Description[]
The tattoo covers the entire back of the player and features an abstract figure resembling a UFO beaming to the ground.
To unlock the tattoo, the player must first complete 600 bunker resupply missions, which will then unlock a chance to be given a hidden Alien Egg resupply mission. Once that mission is completed, the tattoo can be awarded randomly when the player drinks Macbeth whisky at a Nightclub during stormy, rainy or snowy weather between 1am and 4am, and passes out. There is a chance the player respawns on top of Mount Chiliad seeing a UFO flying away and having the tattoo applied on their back. After the UFO encounter, the tattoo will also be appeared under the "Torso - Back Full" section inside Tattoo Parlors, and it can be removed or reapplied for $100.

Bugs/Glitches[]
- On the PC version, the tattoo did not appear on any of the lists inside tattoo parlors, so it would be indefinitely lost unless the player redid the entire unlock process.
- This was corrected in the The Contract update. However, players who have lost the tattoo before this update will still have to repeat the unlock process.
- The tattoo will disappear if the player changes their outfits through the Interaction Menu and walks into the pools at The Diamond Casino & Resort/Galaxy Super Yacht (where the players' casual outfits will automatically be changed to swimsuits), or even during/after certain missions/jobs. It can be reapplied by purchasing items in a clothing store.[vague]
- After the patch above on the PC version, once the UFO scene is triggered, the player will have to make a removal of the tattoo inside tattoo parlors, and then reapply it to make sure that it will not disappear again due to the above actions.
