The Elysian Fields Freeway Bridge is an unnamed through arch bridge in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, connecting Elysian Island to East Los Santos.
Description[]
The bridge is a large through arch bridge, depicted with a red steel arch lifting above the main road deck, supported by large concrete towers. It serves the Elysian Fields Freeway, continuing on from the Miriam Turner Overpass in the west which serves the La Puerta Freeway. It passes over the Elysian Island harbor, connecting Elysian Island to East Los Santos via El Burro Heights, passing over Cypress Flats and the entrance to the nearby Jetsam Terminal Headquarters.
Unlike the nearby Miriam Turner Overpass, the bridge provides crossing by foot, with the addition of a caged walkway on the south side of the bridge. This follows on the from the sidewalk at the off ramp onto Elysian Island in the west.
Influence[]
The bridge is based on the Gerald Desmond Bridge in Long Beach, California, a former through arch bridge that was built in 1968 that links Terminal Island with Long Beach. The bridge was retired from use in 2020, and replaced with the Long Beach International Gateway. The bridge was later demolished in late 2022.
