Defender of the Faith is a arcade minigame developed in 1984 by Degenatron. It is available to play in the Arcade in Grand Theft Auto Online.
Description
The game is a side scrolling shooter in which you collect green squares as a large red square. The player can control the speed and direction of the red square to avoid the blue squares, which kill in a single hit. After three lives are used, it is Game Over.
Challenges
There are two challenges available for this arcade game. Special T-shirts will be awarded to the player if they manage to complete each one of them.
- Keeping The Faith
This challenge requires the player to complete a level by only pressing right. This is easier done on the first level since you only need to collect two green squares to complete it. Just press and hold right as soon as the level starts and hope that two green squares align with the red square. This is entirely based on luck so just keep retrying until you finally manage to do it.
Completing this challenge awards the player the Retro Defender of the Faith Tee.
- Retro Master Challenge
This challenge requires the player to complete the challenges for Defender of the Faith, Monkey's Paradise and Penetrator. Check the challenge description of each of these three arcade games and complete all of them to finish this challenge.
Completing this challenge awards the player the Defender of the Faith Tee and Penetrator Tee.
Trivia
- The symbol for the Epsilon Program is heavily used in the boxart.
- During the tour for Vinewood Star Tours, the tour guide mentions a Defender Of The Faith movie, but it is unknown whether it is connected to the arcade game or not.
