The Coil Cyclone II is an electric hypercar featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Expanded & Enhanced Edition of the game.
Influence[]
This vehicle is primarily based on the Rimac Nevera.
Design[]
The Cyclone II has very similar styling cues adopted from the previous iteration, albeit with a more exotic front design that consists of a large splitter with small fins on the outer edges and a trapezoid-shaped grille, together with additional formations beside it and smaller intakes for cooling off the front brakes. On the upper area, the car has the Coil emblem in the center and black headlight housings on the edges with dual circular units, while the area near the windshield has dual intakes with a single central strake and a black/plastic section.
The sides of the car are denoted by large inset formations running through the doors and large fins on both ends, which leave small gaps with the upper body lines. Unlike the original model, the Cyclone II features butterfly doors, which sit over the skirting area and include part of the roof, as well as housing the frontal fins. The cabin area makes use of black trim around the windows and painted mirror shells mounted over black supports, while the roof area is narrower and has thin seams where the doors are located. The rear section has a large sloped window over the battery cell and narrow exit vents on the rearmost quarters, along with a large spoiler mounted by default.
The rear of the car assumes a boxy profile and bears a similar design to that used on the Emerus and Imorgon, being mostly finished in carbon fiber. The upper edges of the car are occupied by long tail light strips that consist of dual main/brake units and inner reverse units, while the license plate is seen in the middle. The lower portion of the car is predominated by the large exit mesh vent and the diffuser with numerous blades. The underside of the car is mostly carbon plated with the axle areas exposed, similar to its previous generation. Should the player opt to upgrade the Cyclone II in Hao’s Special Works, a HSW badge will be present on the rear of the car.
The interior of the vehicle is similar to cars such as the Nero, the Nero Custom and the XA-21. The Coil logo can be seen on the horn cap and headrests, while the area behind allows visibility to the rear battery cell.
The primary color covers the whole body, while the secondary color covers the cables connected to the engine. Although not accessible, a trim color is also available for most of the interior, which is set to black in purchased examples. The rims appear to be a chrome variation of the ones seen on the Sugoi.
Performance[]
The Cyclone II improves upon the performance of its original counterpart, also being the second quickest vehicle added in the Expanded & Enhanced edition (only surpassed by the Virtue), as it can take reach 100 kph/62 mph from a standstill in 1.7 seconds, slightly faster than the original Cyclone. The Cyclone II's top speed is also higher than the original, peaking at 119.6 mph/192.2 kph, which is still below average for a supercar. Like the Tezeract, the reverse speed of the Cyclone II is also faster than any supercar when driving backwards. The HSW performance upgrade can significantly improve the Cyclone II's speed and acceleration and will even out-accelerate the Virtue. It can go from 0 to 100 mph/160 kph in 2.6 seconds, and can reach its top speed of 142.4 mph/229.2 kph in twelve seconds.
The Cyclone II also possesses improved handling over the original, but at high speeds, it will become unstable and will experience understeer, especially when fitted with HSW mods. It also has low amounts of downforce, being a jumpy vehicle for street racing. Despite it's all-wheel-drive system, the extreme amount of torque causes wheel burnout and understeer when going at full acceleration, and it also struggles to turn in shallow water.
The Cyclone II is powered by a large battery on the back, and like other fully-electric vehicles such as the Voltic, it has a single-speed reduction transmission and little to no noise coming from the car. After applying the HSW Upgrade, the vehicle gains unique "Mode" options, which is essentially the equivalent of the "Turbo" upgrades available to all HSW-eligible vehicles.
