The Cuban Hermes is a gang variant of the Hermes, appearing in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
Design[]
The Cuban Hermes is, as the name suggests, the gang car for the Cubans/Los Cabrones. As such, the car is commonly seen in the Cuban gang's territory of Little Havana, Vice City.
It has been modified in the style of a hot rod with a flame decal and additional side exhausts. In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the Cuban Hermes is always painted in black, while in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories it appears with light blue or white paint instead. The Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories version also has a slightly different flame decal and its wheels are positioned further into the wheel wells than those on the regular or GTA Vice City Cuban Hermes.
The vehicle retains its name "Cuban Hermes" in GTA Vice City Stories despite the Cubans being renamed "Los Cabrones".
Performance[]
In addition to the visual changes over the standard model, the Cuban Hermes also differs in performance. The engine of the car emits a different engine noise, similar to a turbocharged vintage V8 engine and the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City rendition will emit flames from the side exhausts when accelerating.
Compared to the regular Hermes, the Cuban Hermes has faster acceleration, a tighter turning circle, and an all-wheel-drive layout. It can perform quick J-turns on any surface (whereas other AWD cars can only do so on unpaved surfaces or in the rain). However, due to its heavy body roll and low ground clearance, it will scrape on the road during hard steering, and driving onto curbs can cause jolts, compromising stability and potentially causing a crash or rollover. However, in GTA Vice City Stories, the car has a rear-wheel-drive layout and a higher top speed, leading to better performance.
The Cuban Hermes shares its engine sound with several other muscle cars and off-road vehicles, including the Cholo Sabre, Polaris V8, Quad, Slamvan, Hotknife, BF Injection, Cartel Cruiser (in GTA III), Sabre Turbo, Voodoo (in GTA Vice City Stories), Sandking and Diablo Stallion.
