The Coast Guard Launch is a patrol boat in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
The Coast Guard Launch is a law enforcement watercraft operated by the LCPD, equipped with a machine gun turret on the bow operated by the captain. In the Nintendo DS version, the boat assumes a similar design to the Launch from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (thus resembling a SeaArk Riverine Assault Craft (RAC)) and spawns in a gray color, while in other versions, it resembles a Marine Protector-class patrol boat, having a white/red color and yellow mast.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
Vehicle[]
Speed and handling are terrible. Acceleration is mild and, being a combat boat, it has very good armor.
Weaponry[]
The machine gun turret offers moderate firepower against most boats and has 360-degree rotation. Depending on the console, the turret can be operated with the touch-screen functionality of the Nintendo DS, the Apple iOS and the Android OS, by pressing the boat icon and sliding the finger to whatever direction the player wants to shoot. On the PlayStation Portable, this is done with the L1/R1 shoulder buttons.

Locations[]
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
- The Coast Guard Launch will come after the player if they are on water and have a 2+ wanted level, similar to the Predator in earlier games. The police will fire the Launch's mounted gun at the player, whose fire rate changes depending on the wanted level; the higher the wanted level, the faster the police fire the gun.
- At a dock in eastern Fishmarket South, Algonquin.
Trivia[]
- For some reason, in the mobile version, the Coast Guard Launch is colored almost completely black, with a few orange parts.
