The Coast Guard (also known as the Coastguard) is a boat that is available for the player to use in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

3D Universe

Presumably designed to serve emergency services, the Coast Guard is a small patrol boat affiliated with the city's law enforcement, given the police radio also present in other emergency vehicles. The boat has some wooden construction, particularly in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and often has (unusable) first aid kits and life jackets inside as well. Although it may sound like it, there are no missions associated with this boat.

The vehicle will spawn in white with a blue stripe, with "Coastguard" markings on the sides. The Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories rendition, however, will spawn in a light blue paintjob. The seats have some static props on them, which include: a life jacket, two bags, a pair of boots, a hat, a first aid kit, two sandwich halves, a thermal bottle and a newspaper. These might be belongings of the person or people whom used the boat previously.

3D Universe

The Coast Guard is reasonably fast, and has the ability to make sharp turns easily. However, its armor is rather low, being vulnerable to pursuing Predators.

Prominent Appearances in Mission

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

  • Viceport, next to the docks just north of the freighter

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

  • Although the Coastguard is considered an emergency vehicle and has a police radio, it cannot perform the Vigilante sub-mission. This is due to the fact that criminals spawn in cars and vans, not in boats.
