The Coast Guard (also known as the Coastguard) is a boat that is available for the player to use in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
Design[]
3D Universe[]
The Coast Guard is apparently based on the Boston Whaler Guardian, specifically the 22'/25' models due to the similar hull shape, center console with black compartments and twin-engine layout.
Presumably designed to serve emergency services, the Coast Guard is a small patrol boat affiliated with the law enforcement of the city, given the police radio also present in other emergency vehicles. The front of the boat features a flat compartment on the bow and long hand rails reaching up to the center console, while the rear features numerous cleats on the gunwales and wooden flooring with bench seats on the deck. A large frame is mounted on the transom and mounts a radome and various antennas on top, while additional frames extend ahead of the stern and partially surround the engines.
In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the boat features a lifebuoy on the bow by default and may have different extras on the rear deck, being another lifebuoy, two oars on either side or both accessories at once, while in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, it may spawn with an assortment of items on the hull of the boat and grouped into three extras, which include life jackets, two oars, two bags, a pair of boots, a lifebuoy, a hat, a first-aid kit, two sandwich halves, a thermal bottle and a newspaper.
The boat always bears "Coastguard" markings and registration codes on the sides, and is assigned a white primary color for the whole vehicle with angled stripes of a secondary color (with the GTA San Andreas rendition sometimes spawning in an all-white color). The GTA Vice City Stories rendition, however, permanently spawns in a light blue paintjob.
Performance[]
3D Universe[]
The Coast Guard is reasonably fast, and has the ability to make sharp turns easily. However, its armor is rather low, being vulnerable to pursuing Predators.
The Coast Guard makes use of twin outboard engines with "1000" markings on them (likely denoting 1000cc), and it shares the mid-revving sound with all boats.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]
- Although the Coastguard is considered an emergency vehicle and has a police radio, the Vigilante sub-mission cannot be performed by using it. This is due to the fact that criminals spawn in cars and vans, not in boats.
