The Cluckin' Bell Cartel[1][2] (or simply The Cartel) is the provisional police record name for an unidentified Latin American cartel in Grand Theft Auto Online, introduced in The Chop Shop update.
Description[]
They are an unnamed drug cartel from an unidentified Latin American country. It is implied through their dialogue that some of the members originated from Guatemala (similar to the Madrazo Cartel), as they commonly refer to themselves as a "chapín", which is a term for a male from Guatemala.
They are an entirely unique gang, with unique character models for the cartel goons and bosses,[3][4] albeit sharing their dialogue with the Vagos.
History[]
Background[]
They first arrived in San Andreas in late 2023, where they established their cocaine trafficking operation at the Clucking Bell Farms in Paleto Bay after paying the staff to use the building as cover.
They are given the provisional name[1] of "Cluckin' Bell Cartel" by LSPD officer Vincent Effenburger, during his investigation in early 2024.
Events of Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Chop Shop[]
In 2024, the GTA Online Protagonist crosses paths with Vincent Effenburger once again, whom they previously met as the casino security and a mall cop, now a rookie at the Los Santos Police Department.
At Vespucci Police Station, Vincent explains the situation and how his fellow LSPD officers are not only ignoring, but "actively facilitating" the cartel's operation, hence why he contacted the GTA Online Protagonist to help him out.
With Vincent's assistance, the protagonist performs multiple raids at the Clucking Bell Farms, stealing any kind of loot directly from the Cluckin' Bell Cartel in perfectly executed heists and selling it to the Madrazo Cartel's representative Jorge, also boosting Vincent's career at the LSPD.
Agents of Sabotage[]
In 2025, the Cluckin' Bell Cartel appear as gunrunners during the Arms Trafficking missions, either selling or receiving shipments of weapons from different gangs in Southern San Andreas.
They briefly appear as the buyers for the shipment of weapons stolen from the Varrios Los Aztecas during the Oscar Guzman Flies Again mission strand, in which their arms deal with the GTA Online Protagonist is ambushed by Eberhard Munitions.
Influence[]
The Cluckin' Bell Cartel appears to be inspired by Gustavo Fring's Drug Empire from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, who uses the fast food chain Los Pollos Hermanos (also specializing in chicken) as a cartel business front for their methamphetamine manufacturing and distribution operation.
