MaryBethWilliams-GTAVCS-FirstAppearance

Louise Cassidy-Williams and her newborn daughter Mary-Beth Williams in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Children in the Grand Theft Auto series are characters, either unseen or cutscene-only, who are younger than the age of majority. They are never present in normal gameplay as pedestrians due to obvious sensitive and controversial reasons regarding the series' violent crime fiction theme.

Description[]

Children are referenced in all three universes of the series, through dialogue, in-game websites and photographs. To date, Mary-Beth Williams is the only child to physically appear, as a cutscene prop in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

In the original Grand Theft Auto, the player drives Samuel Deever's children to a hotel in one mission, though they don't have character sprites and are unseen inside Deever's car. School Buses are present as driveable vehicles in the original Grand Theft Auto (as a Liberty City map-specific variant of the in-game Bus) and as wrecks in games since Grand Theft Auto III.

In recent titles including Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, renders of teenaged characters appear in portraits and in-game website images, including younger versions of Franklin Clinton, Jimmy De Santa and Tracey De Santa. Some female NPCs may announce to someone on the phone that they are pregnant.

Little Lacy Surprise is a controversial in-game website in Grand Theft Auto IV and mentioned in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, monitored by the police and government agents.
