The Cheng Family (陳家) is a criminal organization from Hong Kong in Grand Theft Auto Online. They are led by Mr. Cheng, the uncle of Tao Cheng.

Background[]
While connected to the Los Santos Triads through Tao Cheng, they largely deal with legitimate business and thus prefer peaceful negotiation in order to settle differences with their rivals, although they're not above hiring muscle to deal with their enemies when the situation calls for it.

The Diamond Casino & Resort[]

In July 2019, after five years investing, the Cheng Family finally finished building the Diamond Casino & Resort business in Los Santos, which is then put under Tao Cheng's management under his uncle's orders from Hong Kong. However, the family immediately runs into trouble with the Duggan Crime Family who want to destroy the casino also by employing underhanded tactics to sabotage it, all in order to buy it back at a cheap price.
When the Duggan family accepts to meet with Tao, the meeting goes sour, and Avery orders his henchmen to kill Tao, triggering a war between the Duggan Family and the Cheng Family, which leads to the destruction of Avery's assets and the assault on the Diamond Casino & Resort, which is then repelled by the protagonists.
Later on, Thornton growing tired of Avery's increasingly destructive methods (which also risk their family collapsing) betrays him and hires associates of Tao Cheng to kill his uncle. He also wants to purchase the casino for his own personal gain, which also benefits most of the current Diamond staff, as it would mean they would keep their jobs. Tao's uncle agrees to this, contacting Tao and Baker from Hong Kong and telling them to sell the casino immediately in the hopes of avoiding police attention and further conflict with the Duggans. Tao and Baker have no choice but to accept Thornton's offer, as Tao's uncle provided most of the funding for the casino's construction.
After Avery's death, the Duggan Crime Family is largely weakened, with the few remaining members uniting behind Thornton and working as security staff at the Diamond, replacing Vincent and the old security team. They are further damaged by the events of The Diamond Casino Heist, which leads to numerous security shipments being destroyed, dozens of guards getting killed, and a significant amount of valuable goods being stolen from the casino.
The Diamond Casino Heist[]
In early December 2019, players with a Master Penthouse received a cryptic text messages from the Cheng Family Holdings saying "We don't blame you. Revenge will be sweet". A few days later, the GTA Online protagonist is contacted by Lester for a meeting at Mirror Park where they meet Georgina Cheng, Vice President of Cheng Family Holdings, and her assistants. Through Georgina, Lester and the protagonist are tasked with robbing the Diamond Casino and Resort as revenge against the Duggan Crime Family for taking advantage of Georgina's brother Tao. Georgina and her staff later show up at the protagonist's arcade garage to hear the plan and execution Lester laid out. The heist is eventually pulled off, which brought about Chengs' revenge on the Duggans. Lester keeps his promise with Georgina of robbing the casino on a weekly basis, allowing the protagonist to replay the heist with different approaches freely.
