"Let me guess, Sweet - senseless killing right, but a boyfriend from the Southside, wrong?"
Kendl Johnson

Cesar Vialpando is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl Johnson by Grove Street Families leader and brother Sweet from his home in the Grove Street cul-de-sac in Ganton.

Carl drops by Sweet's house, only to find Sweet and Kendl arguing because of Kendl's relationship with Cesar Vialpando, the leader of the Varrios Los Aztecas. After a while, Kendl leaves, and Sweet furiously orders CJ to go and watch over Kendl in case anything dangerous occurs.

Carl goes to the Loco Low Co. garage in Willowfield. Once there, he is given a Savanna by a worker who says that he owed Sweet from way back. Carl modifies the car and then goes to the meet in Unity Station, where Kendl and Cesar are going to be. Upon arriving, he competes against a Varrios Los Aztecas gang member in a lowrider competition. After getting more points on bouncing his lowrider's hydraulics in time with the music, Carl wins the wager he earlier made.

Kendl happily celebrates and hugs Carl, just as Cesar shows up and shakes hands. Carl tells Kendl he's there to make sure her boyfriend doesn't harm her, and when Kendl hugs Cesar he tries to separate them. An argument ensues and one of Cesar's friends attempts to start a fight with Carl. Cesar, however, manages to stop it. Things calm down, and Cesar explains that Carl has to accept that he treats Kendl well, and is her boyfriend. Carl sees that Cesar is indeed treating Kendl well, and agrees not to interfere. Cesar and Carl then introduce themselves to one another properly then head their separate ways.

Mission Objectives

In order to complete the mission the player must:

  • Go to the garage in Willowfield.
  • Back up the lowrider into the mod garage.
  • Get to the lowrider meeting.
  • Use the suspension controls to bounce in time with the music.

Instructional Messages

You can return to the garage at any time. It is marked on the radar with a wrench icon.

Carl Johnson enters Sweet's House to find Sweet Johnson and Kendl Johnson arguing over her dating Cesar Vialpando.
Sweet: I'm tired of you not listening to me, girl!
Kendl: And I'm tired of you acting like you own me! I can see who I wanna see.
Sweet: I just think this ain't right you seeing some Cholo motherfucker!
Kendl: Oh, what, a no good, narrow minded, hypocrite gang banger telling me what is right and what is wrong? Let me guess, Sweet, senseless killing right? But a boyfriend from the South-side wrong?
Sweet: Some things ain't just fit to happen. I mean, what if you have kids, Leroy Hernandez? That don't sound good.
Kendl: His name ain't Hernandez.
Sweet: Well, Leroy Lopez then.
Kendl: Or Lopez either you racist fuck, that ain't how moms raised us.
Sweet: Well, I ain't racist, I just know how they feel about you. I mean look at you, dressed like a hooker.
Kendl: Oh, and I guess you two would know what a hooker looks like, huh?
CJ: You say it like it's a bad thing.
Sweet & Kendl: Shutup, Carl!
Sweet: I'm just trying to protect you.
Kendl: For what? So I can date one of your mindless friends? I don't think so.
Sweet: Don't say a word, Carl. Just follow your sister before you see another dead sibling, then you see exactly what my problem is. She's meeting him at some Cholo car club.
CJ drives to a TransFender in Willowfield to get a custom Lowrider for the Cholo car club.
TransFender Owner: So you must be Sweet's bro, huh? He phoned ahead, said you might be looking for a car that bounces. Well I owe him big from way back, so here, this should do the trick. Custom springs should see you hopping all of the way home. Try her out, very popular with the eses. They compete in these things. You can usually find them over by Unity Station. If you ever wanna mod your ride come back any time, man.
CJ customizes the car and heads to Unity Station to compete in the Lowrider Challenge.
Gangster: Alright homie, let's see if you've got what it takes.
CJ completes the Lowrider challenge.
Gangster: I've seen worse, but you did okay.
Kendl: That shit was alright! So since when has my brother been a low rider?
CJ: Since Sweet told me to keep an eye on you, make sure that whatever you're dating don't get you in trouble.
Cesar: Nice heartbeat homes!
Kendl: Well you just shook that whatever's hand.
CJ: Ey, get your dirty hands off my sister!
Kendl: Carl, what is wrong with you!
Cesar: You're acting like she's your woman, ey. She's with me, cabron, so chill the fuck out. I treat her good.
Kendl: Listen, you don't start no shit, don't make it worse.
Bald Gangster: Who's this pendico?
Kendl: What? Dickhead, this dickhead is my brother!
Cesar: Easy, homes, he ain't from no where. He's cool.
Bald Gangster: But I say he ain't cool. I say he thinks he's gangster and I don't like it. So you know what you can do for me, man? You can fuck off, pendico, and then, maybe we cool.
CJ: You fuck off, I'm talking to my sister!
Kendl: CARL!
Cesar: Hose, come on, homes, I can handle this, this is important to me.
Bald Gangster: Hey, pendico, you lucky. That's right, you lucky Cesar has spoken for you. Vaminos muchachos. Let's get some fucking beer, huh? I'm...thirsty.
CJ: Carl! What the hell were you thinking?
Cesar: Look baby, go get in the car, okay? I'ma speak to Carl. Look homes, I love your sister. I honor her, she's my girl for life, this is why I stopped you from being skinned just then. You got a problem with me then fine, we don't have to be friends. But Kendl, she's happy with me.
CJ: Yeah, okay. I guess we cool, for now.
Cesar: Cesar Vialpando.
CJ: Carl Johnson. CJ.
Cesar: Cabron, you got a nice car there, homes! Maybe we'll get to kick it again soon, eh?
CJ: Yeah. Maybe.

Video Walkthroughs

The reward for completing this mission is double the amount of money chosen for the wager. The mission High Stakes, Low Rider is unlocked, as well as the Lowrider Challenge side mission. The Loco Low Co. and TransFender mod garages are also unlocked, where the player can modify their vehicle. The Savanna from Loco Low Co. also spawns beside CJ.

  • In the PC version, a glitch might occur, where no matter how well timed, it will never accept bouncing up or down, calling it the wrong move. This is because the keys for up and down are reversed, so if one presses down when it displays up, it will register.

  • The lowriders that leave the station when the challenge is completed usually seemingly do not have hydraulics, which is strange since hydraulics are required to join the event. However, if Carl kills one of the drivers and gets into one of the lowriders, sometimes it will have hydraulics equipped already.
  • Kendl can be seen taking a pink jar of Slick-O-Greese Sex Lard with her at the beginning of the mission before she goes to see Cesar.
  • When CJ is confronted by Cesar's gang members, the one speaking uses the same model as the snitch seen in The Introduction.
  • Should the original Savanna be lost, a replacement may be found parked in the strip mall parking lot directly south of the Johnson House in Ganton.
  • The mission complete song will not play after successfully completing this mission.
  • The music that the lowriders compete to in this mission is "Odyssey" by Johnny Harris. The song can also be heard on Bounce FM.
  • The music that is heard when Kendl introduces CJ to Cesar is "How I Could Just Kill a Man" by Cypress Hill. This can also be heard on Radio Los Santos.
