The Vapid Caracara is a 6x6 weaponized off-road pickup featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series update, released on April 3rd, 2018, during the Target Assault Week event.[1]
Design
Grand Theft Auto Online
The Caracara appears as a 6x6 truck heavily inspired by the Ford F-150, more specifically, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6, a 6x6 alternative. The tail lights are a stretched version of the Riata's, which in turn are very similar to those of the 2016–present Nissan Titan.
The interior of the truck is shared with most SUVs, sporting the Cavalcade interior and dials also used on the Dubsta 6x6.
The vehicle's primary color affects most of the bodywork, while the secondary color is applied to the grille elements and the vehicle's springs.

Performance
Grand Theft Auto Online
- Vehicle
Overall, the vehicle handles, as expected from an off-road truck, best off-road, although it is very prone to being flung with the tiniest of bumps and collisions, and has a tendency to flip onto its slide, more so than the Dubsta 6x6. Its road performance is not overwhelming and certainly doesn't keep up with other turreted vehicles.
Durability wise, the truck is as weak as the Dubsta 6x6, being in no way comparable to the likes of the Technical Custom, Insurgent Pick-Up Custom and having no armor against weaponry, taking zero missiles before exploding - the vehicle also lacks bulletproof windows.
The truck is powered by what appears to be an inline-4 engine sporting 4 throttle bodies. Positioned in a front engine, all wheel drive configuration, this is coupled up to a 5-speed gearbox powering all 6 wheels. The engine sound is shared with several SUVs in the game, including the Dubsta and the Dubsta 6x6.
The Caracara's statistical stock top speed is 93 mph / 149.7 km/h.Template:GTARef
- EMS Engine Upgrade 1 produces 94 mph / 151.3 km/h.
- EMS Engine Upgrade 2 produces 95 mph / 152.9 km/h.
- EMS Engine Upgrade 3 produces 96 mph / 154.5 km/h.
- EMS Engine Upgrade 4 produces 97 mph / 156.1 km/h.
The Caracara has all four advanced flags enabled[2]:
- The first causes up-shifting to occur much sooner, and at lower engine revolutions, effectively shortening shift rates.
- The second causes the vehicle's engine to heavily over-rev and remain at the engine red-line for a much longer period of time before shifting, causing revolutions to fluctuate.
- The third increases the vehicle's suspension "springiness", causing it to bounce excessively while driving.
- Weaponry
- The Caracara comes equipped with a DShK 12.7mm machine gun, which has devastating power against pedestrians and unarmored vehicles, making it a good choice for an escort vehicle. The vehicle is able to kill most NPCs and players in one to two hits and take down most helicopters or vehicles in less than twenty.
- The second option is a mounted GAU-17/A 7.62mm Minigun, which behaves like many mounted miniguns found on other vehicles, such as the Valkyrie. Although not very powerful, the high fire rate makes it great against unarmored targets and cars, causing regular vehicles to explode in just a couple of seconds, while the stock gun can take more than double that time.
It should be noted that because of the vehicle's poor durability, the player should avoid using the gun to explode targets close to the vehicle, as a single explosion will instantly destroy the vehicle.

Trivia
General
- The name "Caracara" is a reference to the Ford Raptor, as caracaras are raptor birds.
- The default radio stations for the Caracara are Radio Mirror Park, Vinewood Boulevard Radio, and Los Santos Rock Radio.
Grand Theft Auto Online
- Although the Caracara can be owned as a personal vehicle, it cannot be used in Target Assault Races, despite having the option to enable custom vehicles.
- Despite being weaponized, it can still be used in off-road races with custom vehicles.
- The personal vehicle icon is different to the actual icon that seen on the map for other players, instead using the ‘dangerous vehicle’ icon present on the Insurgent and Technical.[3]
Bugs/Glitches
Grand Theft Auto Online
- The Caracara will void the drive-in cutscene when taken to Los Santos Customs, albeit only in GTA Online.[4][5] If the player uses a trainer to spawn the vehicle in story mode, it becomes apparent that the vehicle has no difficulty entering Los Santos Customs.[6]
