CJD 500

A CJD 500 in GTA San Andreas.

The CJD 500 is a video game console that appears in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Description[]

The console can be found in the Johnson House and Madd Dogg's Crib, where it can be used to play They Crawled from Uranus. It can also be found in some other houses during the Burglar side missions.

It is a homage to the Amiga series of computers, DMA Design's target platform from the late-'80s to mid-'90s, being host to games like Lemmings, Walker and Hired Guns. The console's disc tray is modelled after the Amiga CD32, while the console itself resembles a Sega Saturn and Model 2 Sega Genesis.

The name is a play on the Amiga 500 and CD32 consoles. The game console is named after Campbell-John Dick (or C-J Dick in the intro and credits), one of the game's map and prop artists. The buttons of the CJD feature the letters C, J, M and D in different colors, much like the buttons of the PlayStation consoles, since GTA San Andreas was released as a PlayStation 2 exclusive for some time.

The Amiga's precursor, the Commodore 64, is referenced in the intro of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
