For the car in GTA San Andreas and GTA V, see Blade (car).

The Grotti Blade is a 2-seater speedboat featured in The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV.

Design[]

The Ballad of Gay Tony[]

The design of the Blade is not very clear, but it appears to take strong inspiration from the Donzi 38 ZR speedboat, given the similar features on the top of the bow area and the windscreen design.

The boat is designed with a less streamlined body design and a shorter length than the Smuggler, where the bow area takes most of the boat's body and features small docking cleats on the front, a small compartment behind and a silver/chrome rail/frame in the centre, as well as two windows with smaller frames beside the central rail/frame and circular windows on the port and starboard sides.

The middle section of the boat features a rounded cockpit with bolt details around, a narrow windscreen on the front, and a long antenna on the right, while the occupant's area features two front bucket seats with rollbar loops on top and an unusable rear bench seat. A carbon-fibre panel can be seen behind the occupant's area.

The stern mostly consists of the dual intakes for the engine bay, which also feature silver/chrome handles near the exit vents. The transom has two small circular exhausts/vents and a swim step, while the propulsion system can be seen below.

The boat may come with an optional top-mounted wakeboard tower that sweeps towards the front. Most of the hull and the engine intakes are painted in a primary colour, while the upper portions of the hull, part of the gunwales, the section around the cockpit, the engine bay panel and the sections around the swim step are painted with the secondary colour. A tertiary colour is also applied in the form of middle stripes on either side, which become gradually wider as they approach the stern/rear end.

Performance[]

The Ballad of Gay Tony[]

The boat's seagoing performance is moderately good, ranking somewhere similar to the Smuggler but stacking above the Floater. Likewise, the boat's manoeuvrability is affected, for better of worse, by its moderately heavy weight, being more controllable than a Smuggler but less so than the smaller Floater.

The boat is powered by two inboard engines with Z-drive propellers, and it uses the same engine sound as most speedboats, albeit with an additional tone that sounds similar to the PCJ-600 and the Vader.

Bugs/Glitches[]

The Ballad of Gay Tony[]

  • A typo in the carcols.dat file prevents the Blade from spawning in the last colour set, 89.113,113,27, , wherein the period symbol should be a comma for the code to work.
