Beer Hats were limited time hats that could only be unlocked during the Independence Day Special or on certain days of the Festive Surprise event in GTA Online. They could be found in special crates in public free-mode sessions or invite only free-mode sessions containing at least 4 people. There were 4 different variations of beer hats commonly available. These include the Supa Wet beer hat, the Pißwasser beer hat, the Benedict beer hat, and the Patriot beer hat.
As of July 8th 2015, as part of the Ill Gotten Gains Part 2 update, all six beer hats have been unlocked for Xbox One and PS4 players. For unknown reasons, beer hats weren't added on past-gen consoles and PC. Players (including those on PC) who completed at least ten Daily Objectives during or before the weekly event of April 2020 Part 2 were still awarded a J Lager Beer Hat.
The Blarney Beer Hat could be unlocked for players who logged in during the weekend of the GTA Online Bonuses (March 2020 Part 3) event.
As of July 1, 2021, as part of the Independence Day 2021, four of the beer hats were rewarded in Business Battles. Players who took part in Business Battles during that week had a chance to randomly win the Benedict, Patriot, Pißwasser, or Supa Wet beer hat.
Trivia
- There were many glitches to get the beer hat even if the player didn't get it from a crate drop. One of said glitches came out in July 2015, where some players would get all four "legit" beer hats added to their inventory. This was based on luck and some players did not receive the beer hats.
- There are two additional beer hats that were available by either glitching, using modding tools, or if proceeded by an unusual combination of circumstances. A red one for "J's Lager" (the "'s" is not included in the logo) and a lime-colored one for "Blarney's". These are considered among the most rare of wearable items in Online.
- Some players have contacted Rockstar support claiming they lost their beer hats, and have managed to obtain all four beer hats, and in some cases, the two additional beer hats not released officially. This is however not advised as this is considered as claiming a false report.
- Rockstar Support has previously denied the existence of the J Lager and Blarneys beer hat, saying that such items do not exist in the in-game world at all.[1] However, these beer hats do indeed exist even without modding tools. If you were lucky and happened to be in a glitched lobby, you could get both the J Lager beer hat and the Blarneys beer hat on last gen while collecting a crate drop.
