Beachgate is a neighborhood in Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars located in southern Broker, Liberty City.
Description[]
It is bordered by Crockett Avenue to the north, (Firefly Projects), Shinnecock Avenue to the west (Firefly Island), and Broker Sound to the south and east. It is based on the New York neighborhood of Seagate.
Beachgate is an affluent, gated community, housing a low-rise apartment and a number of large houses usually with luxurious cars parked in their driveways. The neighborhood is separated from the rest of Broker, giving it its own unique feel that is unmatched by any other area in the borough. At the end of the main street, there is a broken road barrier. If the player looks down in the ocean, they will see two car wrecks. It is also home to the Russian Mafia leader Mikhail Faustin.
One of the few electrical substations in Liberty City is also located here.
Residents[]
The Faustin family, Mikhail, Ilyena and Anna, resided in a mansion at the very southern end of the community's main street, Shinnecock Avenue, until Mikhail's death, when Ilyena and Anna fled to a boardwalk in Hove Beach. A Turismo can be found parked in the driveway (in GTA Chinatown Wars, an Infernus or Cognoscenti appears instead). Also in GTA Chinatown Wars, a very rare Resolution X can be found outside a mansion near Faustin's. The Russian Mafia, as well as Eastern European pedestrians, are also very common.
Influence[]
Beachgate's real life archetype is Coney Island's Seagate neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York.
Transport[]
The Liberty City Subway does not provide service to Beachgate. However, there is a station in nearby Hove Beach. It is made up of three streets, the main one being Shinnecock Avenue and the smallers Ketchum Street and Claiborne Street.
