The second generation Gallivanter Baller is a five-door SUV appearing in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.
Description[]
The second generation Baller sits as the baseline for a growing family of sporty SUVs, with subsequent trim levels added in a variety of updates, including the Baller LE, Baller ST and the later Baller ST-D. All variants share the same initial chassis design but with different levels of cosmetic details.
Grand Theft Auto VI[]
The SUV makes several appears in the game's first trailer, including models with and without a glass sun-roof, similar to the Baller ST-D appearing in GTA Online, albeit using the base design from the original second generation Baller as opposed to the facelifted model.
- A blue second generation Baller is seen in the opening shot (0:03). It most notably features LED headlights and tinted side and rear windows. This variant is also seen later on, driving past the highway dancer shortly ahead of a Towtruck (0:49).
- A white version is seen parked up in a parking lot on the artificial islands sat between Vice City and Vice Beach (0:31). It features a panoramic glass sun-roof.
Influence[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The design of the second-generation Baller is based on the Range Rover Sport (L494). The major parts of the car were derived from other Range Rover models, such as the front bumper, headlights, and the entire rear fascia from the Range Rover Evoque (L538) and side accents from the Range Rover (L405).
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The front face of the car features a lot of polymer, similar to the car's real life inspiration. The base of the front bumper features a polymer layer spanning the entire width. Two thirds of the front face width and a third of its height is occupied by a trapezium formation, with the outer part being black and the inset trapezium being chrome. Outside the central areas and at about half the car's height there are large ducts that have edges contoured to the lower trapezium, main grille and headlights. These ducts have horizontal LED strips that run from the inner vertex of the ducts. The main grille is located almost at the top of the front face, being a chrome-edged trapezium which is less wide than the lower trapezium. The main grille features two horizontal chrome strips either side of mid-height. The headlamp units are linked to the grille, with the top edge coinciding with the top of the grille and bottom edge with the upper horizontal strip. The headlamp units feature two circular lamps and then an amber turn indicator lamp on the outside. The bonnet/hood features an elevated area whose edges are in line with the top corners of the grille.
The sides of the car feature wheel arches in the form of large bulges. The main body features an impressed area bounded by two chrome lines parallel to the car's belt line. Connecting the two lines at the front quarter is a vertical air duct. As with the older model, the car features black, polymer-covered A, B, C and D pillars. The wing mirrors are dominantly body-coloured but feature a black polymer accent. The roof is lightly curved.
The rear features small, wide lamp units that mostly consist of small LEDs, connected by a single chrome line similar to the ones on the sides, just over a square-shaped formation that holds the license plate. The rear bumper is mostly dominated by a polymer portion encompassing the exhaust tubes, while two red strips are seen on the edges.
Again, the car is only painted in a primary colour for the body and the interior stitching. The car has split six-spoke rims also seen on the Surano, wrapped in low-profile tyres.
The Baller appears to be equipped with a power tailgate, as seen in the cutscene where Dr. Dre and his entourage are leaving the hangar at LSIA prior to the player and English Dave departing for Cayo Perico.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The second generation Baller accelerates at an average rate for an SUV, and is capable of reaching good top speed. The main weakness of the car's performance lies in its handling; the car's mass combined with its lack of traction can often lead to heavy understeer. When taken off-road however, the car's handling is better and cornering grip can allow for precise high speed driving off-road. The handling of the SUV can be quickly summarized as a level below the Huntley Sport in almost every way imaginable.
Though the engine model does not feature any manifolds, the engine cover displays what appears to be a single-overhead camshaft V8, fitted in a front engine, all wheel drive (60% front, 40% rear) layout, longitudinally.

Prominent Appearances in Gameplay[]
Grand Theft Auto V[]
- In Father/Son, a unique metallic Ultra Blue Baller can be encountered merging into the southbound La Puerta Freeway at the Rockford Hills intersection during the pursuit. This Baller only spawns if the player fails their first attempt of the mission and restarts from the last checkpoint. To obtain this Baller, simply hijack it and abandon the mission.
- This particular Baller can spawn with any pearlescent colors from its traffic-default color sets. This means it has a 2/15 chance to spawn with a pearlescent hue that is not available at mod shops: Matte Gray or Worn Green, creating a unique color combination. If the Baller spawns with an obtainable pearlescent hue, the process of forcing it to spawn with a different pearlescent color on the next attempt can be very convoluted:
- The player needs to start the mission with a random vehicle; arriving with a personal vehicle or on foot may cause the pearlescent hue not to randomise upon retry.
- If the Baller spawned with an undesirable pearlescent color, the player needs to drive the Baller back towards Michael's mansion, but then abandon the SUV some distance away from the safehouse (around a few hundred meters will be sufficient) and then reattempt the mission. This way, the Baller from the previous attempt will not despawn, forcing the game to spawn a new Baller with a different pearlescent color.

- In the mission Dead Man Walking, after Michael De Santa climbs out of the window, a Baller and a Felon are parked and available to choose to steal in order to make his escape.

Oversights[]
Grand Theft Auto V[]
- In earlier versions of Southern San Andreas Super Autos, the second generation Baller's listing incorrectly used a picture of the first generation model. This was subsequently fixed when said website was revamped.
- The Rockstar Games Social Club lists the second generation Baller as non-purchasable and the first generation Baller as purchasable, despite it being vice-versa in-game.
Radio Stations[]
- In Grand Theft Auto V and Online, the default radio stations are grouped by genre. The Baller uses the "Rap" group which can play:
- West Coast Classics
- Radio Los Santos
- The Lab
- Blonded Los Santos 97.8 FM (Enhanced Editions only. May not play due to a three station limit within the group)
- IFruit Radio (Enhanced Editions only. May not play due to a three station limit within the group)
