For the VCPD in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, see VCPD (3D Universe).
For information about how the VCPD pursue the player, see Wanted Level in GTA.

Initial attempts to control the troubles by the Police Department failed following revelations of wide spread corruption and drug trafficking within the force, and the problems have. Vice City now boasts the highest murder rates, the highest amounts of drug-related crime and the least respected police department of anywhere in the USA.

The Vice City Police Department (VCPD), also known as the Vice City Metropolitan & County Police Department, is the primary law enforcement agency of Vice City that appears in Grand Theft Auto.

Description[]

The Vice City Police Department has seven police stations in total. Three are in Miramire, Coral City, and Vice Beach, while the other four are in Richman Heights, Little Bogota, and Banana Grove. They wear the same uniforms, and use the same tactics and equipment as the LCPD and SAPD do.

Events of Grand Theft Auto[]

In 1997, the VCPD is attempting to shut down the Brotherhood of Jah Army of Love (nicknamed "Rastas"), a gang led by Brother Marcus, and regularly attack the Brotherhood and their activities. VCPD corrupt cop Samuel Deever blackmails the GTA Protagonist to work for him and attack the Rastas. Eventually, the GTA Protagonist begins working for Brother Marcus, and the VCPD is frequently thwarted by them.

The VCPD, along with other government authorities in the game, is often referred to as the "Babylon" by the Rastas.

Influence[]

The VCPD is evidently based on the real-life Miami-Dade Police Department.

Vehicles[]

The VCPD uses Squad Cars that are colored blue and white but features a modified body that appears wider and rounded.
