The Shrewsbury Assault Rifle Mk II is a weapon that appears in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Gunrunning update.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The weapon is the Mark II version of the Assault Rifle, which features several visual modifications. It has different iron sights (the front sight is that of an AKM), a Magpul MOE pistol grip, a deeper magwell, an AKM's ribbed receiver cover, a handguard which appears to be inspired by both the B-10 and the 2016 version of the AK-12, and a collapsible stock which is a close copy of the ZenitCo PT-3 Klassika. The appearance overall reflects that of the AK-15, with the gas block of the AK-47/AKM.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Assault Rifle Mk II improves over the regular Assault Rifle in damage (from 30 to 40), with the same rate of fire. Despite its sluggish rate of fire, the Assault Rifle Mk II's damage per second manages to be slightly superior to the Carbine Rifle Mk II. Adding to that, its high damage per shot makes it a good choice to use specialized ammo.
With the heavy barrel applied, long-range damage falls to 50% of point blank damage (as for other Mk II weapons) instead of 30% for most weapons. In addition, it can be modified with a muzzle brake, grip and scope which will further improve accuracy and stabilizes recoil.
The weapon has access to the following ammo types:
- Tracer rounds, which only have an aesthetic effect. A tracer round is shot every three bullets, with the last three being also tracer rounds. Overall capacity is 360 rounds (12 magazines).
- Incendiary rounds, which have moderate chances of setting enemies on fire.
- Armor Piercing rounds, which ignores body armor. This will also penetrate bulletproof helmets, allowing the player to perform one-hit kills at close range. However, it has no effect on players wearing Ballistic Equipment.
- Full Metal Jacket rounds, which improve damage over vehicles and can penetrate bullet-resistant windows. This helps at taking out targets inside armored vehicles at medium ranges.
Note that specialized ammo magazines have a reduced capacity of 20 rounds, with an overall capacity of 240 rounds (12 magazines).
