Pavel:
Uh, Jodi, Area 69 does not actually have the, eh... extraterrestrials and the probing machines, right? That is funny American joke, like Big Foot and trickle-down economics, yes?
Jodi Marshall:
I cannot confirm or deny any of those.

Area 69 is an unseen highly classified United States Air Force installation within Bone County, mentioned in the Agents of Sabotage update for Grand Theft Auto Online.

Description[]

Area 69 is a secret government facility which is commonly the subject of conspiracy theories such as UFOs, due to the intense secrecy surrounding the base. The facility is first mentioned during The Brute Force File mission strand in GTA Online.

Events of Grand Theft Auto Online[]

In late 2024, a directed energy weapon developed at Fort Zancudo, an Air Force installation in Blaine County, was due to be transported to Area 69 in Bone County for testing. The GTA Online Protagonist performs a clandestine operation with guidance of former FIB agent Jodi Marshall in order to steal the weapon mounted on a Future Shock Scarab and sell it to a random buyer as revenge on her former employers.[1]

Influence[]

It is inspired by the real-life Area 51, a common name for the Homey Airport in Lincoln County, Nevada. The name referencing the 69 sexual position is inherited from its 3D Universe counterpart in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

A kind of directed-energy weapon, a DEW. Whatever it is, it's about to be sent to Area 69 for testing. It's a serious trek to Bone County in the back of a Scarab.
