The Alpha also returns in the HD Universe where it is manufactured by Albany.
Influence[]
The Alpha in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas resembles a mix of both the 1990–1993 Series 1 Dodge Stealth and 1994–1997 Series 2 Stealth, with the rear taken from the ES variant. The front may have been inspired by the 1997 Nissan Z Prototype.
Design[]
The Alpha is designed with a sporty and modern body design, implying the vehicle is one of the newest models in its time.
It features rounded lights, two doors and a black strip on the rear trunk lid/hatch, as well as a fuel cap on the passenger side. The vehicle spawns in a variety of primary colors on the body. The vehicle is also depicted with a rather large body compared to the Super GT, despite the fact that the main real-life inspirations for the Alpha and Super GT are related.
Performance[]
The Alpha is powered by what sounds like an underpowered V8, combined with a five-speed gearbox. The stiff suspension, combined with the weak tire grip, cause the Alpha to fishtail wildly when under hard throttle or exiting a corner. The Alpha's flimsy construction makes it a poor choice for police chases and evading rival gangs. The car is also a two-door, so only one gang member can ride with CJ. Top speed is mediocre for a sports car, placed even lower than the Euros, the slowest of the super cars. An excellent driver can, however, trounce even the almighty Infernus in street races.
The Alpha is chosen as the player's car for the San Fierro Fastlane street race, which is considered one of the most difficult races in the game. The Alpha's slippery personality and poor durability turn the entirety of the race into such a nightmare, especially with the treacherous uphill sections and the sheer challenge of keeping the car in one piece, in turn making it very difficult to catch up with the leading opponent, let alone stay in the lead.

Prominent Appearances in Gameplay[]
- Zeroing In – Carl uses an Alpha to follow the driver of an Uranus in order to steal it and later place it for sale at the Wang Cars showroom. To do so, he performs a PIT maneuver on the Uranus, forcing the driver to leave the car, then hops into it and drives it back to the garage in Doherty.
- The Race: San Fierro Fastlane – Carl must drive the Alpha through a series of checkpoints around the northeastern area of San Fierro.
Oversights[]
- Despite its sports styling, the Alpha will not appear when the "Traffic is Fast Cars" cheat is enabled.
- Sometimes, the Alpha reaches a very high speed (225 km/h+), especially in Las Venturas and San Fierro, due to a common bug that causes vehicles in cities outside of Los Santos to be way faster than normal; this also happens with other sports cars, such as the Infernus, ZR-350, and Euros.
